The NPC Project - Rudrik

Name: Rudric (“Rudi”)
Origin: fresh from the forge
System: DnD 3.5
Played: November 2016
Status: plotting to take over world domination (not really)
Occupation/Class/etc.: sentient two-handed axe
Background: Rudrik was created by one of the players, following instructions and drawings he found in the tomb of a mad (and now dead) dwarfen king (note to the dear reader: Don’t do that! Like, never). It’s a two-handed axe, but unfortunately Rudrik does not only come with spectacular stats and nice magical features but also has its own conscience. Its own chaotic evil conscience. It is able to communicate via telepathy when touched and believe me, this axe can be very persuasive. Too bad it wants to see nearly everyone dead and out of its way for whatever evil plan it just come up with.
Difference from in-game look: I had no description to work with, other that Rudrik is a two-handed axe and beautifully crafted. As you can see, drawing weapons isn’t really my speciality.
Best part: I am a talking evil axe. It’s awesome! And because we play online I can spent my whole evening using the whisper-function to silently give “my” player lots and lots of stupid ideas. Or talk bad about the rest of the party. And influence him to do something wicked without ever being a suspect. This is the best!
Worst part: It’s hard to play my standard NPC (the pixie) and write whispers at the same time without neglecting one of the two. It often ends with the Pixie being more passive and the axe less corrupted and horrible then I would like. But this should change soon, as the Pixie will leave the party once they have found her family. And good old Rudrik is planning to stay around for while…
